New York-Manhatten July 10 and 11th, 2005

Naturally, we had to make a stop in New York. How could we reach the East Coast and not visit Manhatten. We took a train ride from Harrisburg to New York ( 3 1/2 hours). We arrived at Penn Station and immediately had to figure out the subway system. (Not easy). Once we figured it out, we were off to Times Square. It was just as busy as we have seen on TV. There are A LOT of people. Our hotel was only 2 blocks from Time Square which made it easy to get around. We took a tour bus to all the burroughs. Since we were only here for two days, we thought this would be the best way to see Manhatten. It turned out to be a great tour. We saw Greenwich Village, SoHo, Tribeca, the East Side, little Italy, China Town and the fashion district. The tour also include a Harbor Cruise which is a must if you want to see the Statue of Liberty and view the Manhatten skyline from all angles. We visited ground zero but at this point it's a construction site for new buildings and a memorial. Pictures wouldn't show much of the tragedy; although the feeling is still there. Of course, we also had to visit Central Park. This park is HUGE. It is 863 acres with every kind of activity you can imagine. We took a carriage ride because you haven't visited the park if you don't take a carriage ride.
