El Paso, TX October 25, 2005

Well we are heading to Phoenix tomorrow. We will make a stop in Tucson. It sure was great to spend time with my family. We also enjoyed eating good Mexican food! Nothing replaces good home cooking.

Scenic Dr. El Paso, TX October 15, 2005

El Paso, like a lot of cities, has a scenic drive that takes you up above the city. It provides a panoramic view of the city. It's a beautiful view at night but I wasn't able to take a picture that would show its beauty. So....daytime views will have to do.

Barnett's H-D Motorcylce Shop October 14, 2005

We have been stopping and visiting Harley shops around the country. We thought you might be interested in seeing one of the largest in the US. Barnett's has over 700 motorcylces on display (compare this to other shops that carry 50-75 models. This is a huge store. If you can't find it at Barnett's, then it's probably not available. This store carries a large inventory of clothing, accessories, gift items (everything from toys to golf to home decorating), etc.

El Paso, TX October, 2005

We arrived in El Paso. We will be here until the end of the month. I haven't seen my Mom for several years so it's nice to spend time with her. We went golfing yesterday and I forgot to take my camera. So I don't have pictures to post but I will get some before the month is up. Weather has been around 70 to 75 degrees. Not bad. This city has grown tremendously.

San Antonio, TX October 3 - October 5, 2005

We arrived and were immediately surprised at the size of San Antonio. We were expecting a small quaint town but instead found ourselves in the middle of a large city booming with activity. Everyone we had met along the way insisted we visit the Riverwalk. They were absolutely correct. The Riverwalk is a beautiful area located in the middle of the downtown area. The Alamo is within walking distance. There's plenty to see and do. We are now headed for El Paso, TX. Our plan is stay and visit with my Mom for approximately 3 weeks.

The Alamo, San Antonio, TX October 4, 2005

You have to visit the Alamo if you're in San Antonio. The downtown area surrounds this small compound. The Alamo really shows its age next the highrise buildings. There's a lot of reading at the Alamo so take your time. There is also a film covering the battle at the IMAX theatre next door. We would recommend seeing the film to give you a sense of the battle. Some very brave men gave their lives for freedom.

San Jose Mission, San Antonio Oct 4, 2005

San Antonio is rich with history. There are many old missions. We visited the oldest mission, San Jose. The Benedict Monks were missionaries who lived and worked at this mission.

The Riverwalk in San Antonio October 3, 2005

The San Antonio Riverwalk is absolutely beautiful. It gives off the feeling of being in Venice, Italy. The river meanders through downtown. There are restaurants and shops galore. Many hotels sit on the banks of the river and we can only imagine what the views must be from some of the hotel rooms. We walked through a portion of the riverwalk and then opted to take a river cruise tour which took us around the entire Riverwalk. It was a great way to gain a sense of the history of downtown San Antonio.

Farewell South Carolina September 28, 2005

Finally, we are leaving South Carolina! We had a great time. Highly recommend Myrtle Beach as a vacation destination. It was great to see Bryan, Chelsea and Tim. They had a great fun on the beach. We went deep sea fishing with Tim but didn't catch anything. It sure did sooth some of our home sickness to spend time with the family. We are now headed to Texas to visit with my mother. We will travel through Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
